Who is holding you back from success?
Hi.
I’m inviting you to join in a very important conversation between creative business owners / entrepreneurs. While I started this site specifically for producers of bath and body products, I realize now how short-sighted I was.
This particular information is for any creative business owner or entrepreneur. If you make and sell something creative and unique — crafts, arts, or even entertainment (bands, visual art, novels) — you need to know about Poison People.
Who are Poison People?
People who sabotage your success — not just in business, but also in life. Whenever you express ambition, state a goal, or show progress or success, Poison People will try to “put you back in your place.” They will do this out of:
1) envy
2) fear of change
Unfortunately, your Poison People can easily be those closest to you. I won’t get into the reasons here, but they are the ones with the most to lose when your star is rising. So they try to poison you.
Creative types, beware.
Creative people are especially affected by Poison People. As creatives, we rarely get a degree that we can hold up, saying, “Look, this is what I’m supposed to be doing. I majored in it. See?” Instead, we go around, wondering if we’re doing the right thing, wondering if what we’re doing is valuable.
And the world tells us that it isn’t valuable at all. Why are we knitting top hats for Renaissance fairs, when we could be working as an accountant and getting a “steady paycheck?”
We get the double whammy of being uncertain ourselves, and having our Poison People try to hold us back, for whatever reason. So often, we die with our music still in us.
Is this at all like you?
If so, I invite you to join my free e-course. I wrote it at a time when I was surrounded by struggling creative people, and I wanted to put my best thoughts in a way that could help the most people.
The e-course is a series of 4 papers written about the bath and body business, but it really goes for any creative business, whether you make bath bombs, granola, or punk rock.
You’ll also get mailing list updates, which are the precursors to my blog post. I write stuff, people on my list comment, and I post on this blog a few days later with revisions. We’re having a lot of conversation about Poison People at the moment, so it’s particularly relevant.
Anyway, sign up for the course with this form, or click here for more info about it:
PS – More cool stuff coming!
Response to my “Poison People” posts and emails has been really strong, so I’m actually preparing a webinar or presentation on exactly why creative people are so vulnerable to poison. It will be free and open to anyone, but you really should take my free e-course first. That way, you’ll learn about my particular philosophy and experiences, and you’ll get more out of the course.
