Tell me if this sounds like you.
You make awesome stuff that brings magic into people’s lives. Maybe it’s handcrafted cold-processed soap, using the finest ingredients. Maybe it’s soy candles with rich, evocative fragrances. Luxurious lotions with real botanical extracts and natural oils? Paraben-free, spa-quality shower gels and salt scrubs?
You want to sell your awesome stuff.
Many people wonder if they can make a business out of their skill at making scented products. Is it possible? Can you succeed?
I don’t know, but you do, because the answer is within you. No matter what the circumstances, if you have “what it takes” to succeed in this competitive industry, anything is possible. But it won’t be easy.
Take my Free PDF Course.
It’s a series of four papers I wrote, meant to be read in sequence, based on my personal experiences as a consultant and a bath and body seller, myself. I started out working with a (sinking ship) bath and body company that did everything absolutely wrong, and wanting to prove my ideas, eventually became a business consultant with many small business client successes over the years.
I wrote these papers because my client schedule is full, but bath & body businesses are still close to my heart, and I want to give everyone a leg up (who wants to do the work.)
The following four papers are meant to be read in sequence. Here is a short summary of each one:
- “What It Takes To Succeed In The Scented Products Business.” Based on years of hard experience working with businesses, including trying to save a bath and body company and starting my own scented soy candle business, and studying classic works such as Think and Grow Rich, I have learned that there are critical traits of successful people. In this sixteen page paper, I outline my thoughts… and hopefully give you food for thought.
- “A Day Without Action.” Taking action is obviously vital to productivity, but this paper reveals many secrets about human psychology, and why we don’t take action. Learn the difference between being busy and being productive… find out what you really mean when you say, “I don’t know what to do…” and most importantly, discover how not taking action severely damages your confidence.
- “The Difference Between Something Good And Something Great.” This paper reveals a simple but deep technique that will maximize your monetary returns and maintain your edge over competition. It’s not a fast, easy trick, though, so be warned. If you want to make something great, you’re in for a lot of work.
- “Invest In Yourself.” True winners invest in themselves in three ways, but this “investment” has nothing to do with money. Find out how you can make better use of your most precious resources and get to success faster in your business. Even more importantly, discover why people pass up sound investments every day, even though they know the returns will be great.
If you are at all interested in building a real business, please read these. You have nothing to lose, and everything to gain.

Katherine,
Thank you SO much for the business advice you offer on your site. I just finished reading your “What It Takes” paper and am desperate to adopt “new” ways of thinking as you described so well. I have been struggling a little with my business lately for things that are out of my control as well as a lack of experience and knowledge on my part, but you have provided me a new energy and new ways of doing things which I am extremely keen to begin.
Thank you mostly for not making me feel stupid! I feel most often that those silly business self-help books are full of fluffy crap that doesn’t stick with me and ends up being a waste of time and money. I got more out of article than any of them! Your honesty is so greatly appreciated – I have failed, and will fail in the future, but that’s ok and how I’ll move ahead. It is so refreshing to know that you have done this before me and its possible for me too with a different attitude and outlook.
I very much look forward to trying your ways! Thanks again…so much! I’m glad to be a member of your site.
Rachel
P.S. I have really bad ADHD and I managed to get through your article without being distracted more than twice. That’s HUGE!!![]()
